Since switching from vegetarian to (mostly) vegan (I still eat beeswax/honey/insect products), I've definitely discovered that milk makes me sick. Maybe it's the casein, but whenever I've accidentally gotten "cheesed" (or, more often, been given a soy cheese that turned out to still have lactose and/or casein in it), I've gotten sick. So I don't tend to be tempted to cheat with cheese, because I know I will suffer physical consequences.
Eggs are more of a grey area, though. There have definitely been times that I've seen a product, wanted to eat it, looked at the ingredients, found eggs in there, and still eaten it anyway. There was really a two- or three-week long period when this happened, and then I realized I was on a slippery slope and stopped it.
Also from #3: the main thing I wish I'd tried before becoming vegan was goat's milk. I was always curious about it but never actually tried it.
I believe in the ethical tenets of veganism. That said, I question the implications for my health and the health of the planet from all of the ersatz products. Fake cheese. Fake meat. Fake leather. All highly processed and made from who knows what. Is that stuff just as bad for the planet, only in a different way?
